Spending Control
Spending control is a feature that will help you create cards that work according to your needs. This feature allows you to control the monthly, weekly, or daily spending on the card, and allows you to control the specific types of permitted transactions. You can create spending controls for both physical and virtual cards.
You can create spending controls with multiple rules and then associate them with your cards. These rules don’t have to be applied to all of your cards though a spending control, and they can be changed whenever you want. For example, you could create a spending control that blocks your cards from making ATM withdrawals; this could be applied to cards designated for purchase purposes.
Spending Controls Rules
Spending controls are defined by a set of rules that provide a structured approach to managing your card expenses.
Velocity:
This rule is designed to limit expenditure within a predefined time frame, offering the ability to set maximum spending limits on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Setting a velocity rule can restrict your spending to a specified amount within your defined time frame, helping you gain better control over your company's or employees' finances.
Card Usage:
This rule restricts card transactions to specific types, enhancing the security and customization of your spending control. For example, you can limit your card usage to exclude online transactions, providing an additional layer of fraud prevention.
- The types of card usage that can be controlled are:
- Online purchase
- Physical purchase
- ATM withdrawal
Velocity Withdrawal:
Similar to the velocity rule, this rule focuses on limiting the amount that can be withdrawn from ATMs within a set period. By enforcing a withdrawal limit, you gain control over cash outflows, safeguarding against excessive withdrawals and managing cash flow efficiently.
Merchant Category Code:
This rule focuses on limiting the category of merchants where your cards can be used. For example, you can restrict the cards to only be used at merchants related to a specific sector, like gas stations, thereby gaining more control over your finances. You can find the category codes in this link.
